I was young when I came to discover masturbation, and I had orgasms long before I knew what they were.
Nothing about it seemed complicated. I just rubbed “down there” for a few minutes, and it happened. But later, magazines, comedy routines, and sitcoms taught me that my body – and vaginas in general – were mysterious and complex, often too complex for those without them to figure out.
Confirming what I’d been taught, orgasms weren’t as simple with partners as they were by myself. This is to be expected to some extent. There’s a learning curve when you’re getting to know someone new. But what confused me was that not everyone seemed eager to learn.
“Sorry,” I (unnecessarily) apologized to a partner for taking what I thought was too long.
“It’s okay. I know it’s harder for girls,” he said – and then stopped.
Compounding the lack of effort I encountered from some (though not all) partners, it became harder for me to orgasm when I started SSRI antidepressants. When I told my doctor, she said, “Oh, that’s hard for a lot of women anyway.”
I knew my body long and well enough to know being a woman wasn’t to blame, but others didn’t share my view that the problem was fixable. I grew hesitant to bring it up with partners out of fear that asking them to perform the supposedly impossible feat of getting a woman off was too demanding.
Orgasm doesn’t have to be the focus of sex, but if a woman wants one, she should have as much of a right to request it as anyone else does.
When people say that women’s bodies are more difficult – and these generalizations typically refer to cis women and are accompanied by rants about how complicated vaginas are – they teach cis women that an orgasm is too tall an order.
Trans women also have a slew of sexual stigmas attached to them, which Kai Cheng Thom describes here, though they’re beyond the scope of this article. In addition, though most research on orgasm inequity has studied cis women, trans and non-binary people with vaginas may relate to the frustrations of being taught their genitals are impossible to decode, too.
The view that cis women are hard to please maintains what sociologists call the orgasm gap, in which men have three orgasms for every one a woman enjoys, and 57% of women orgasm during all or most of their sexual encounters, but 95% say their partners do.
These statistics may appear to confirm the stereotype that women’s bodies are more complicated, but there are other forces at work.
As sociologist Lisa Wade points out, the orgasm gap is conditional. Lesbians report orgasming 74.7% of the time, only 10 percentage points lower than gay men. In addition, women take under four minutes on average to masturbate to orgasm.
If these statistics don’t convince you that there’s more to the orgasm gap than biology, here are twelve cultural factors that contribute to it.
1. People Believe Women Are Less Sexual
Women, the story goes, aren’t that into sex.
They may enjoy it, but they do it partially in exchange for validation, commitment, or financial support, popular wisdom says. As long as a woman is getting one of those things, she doesn’t need much out of the sex itself.
To the contrary, a lot of research and lived experiences indicate that women are as capable of wanting and enjoying sex as men.
Until we acknowledge this, we won’t prioritize making sex as enjoyable as possible for women because we’ll believe sexual pleasure isn’t as important to them.
It may not be because women themselves may buy into myths about their gender, neglecting their desires because they’re not supposed to have them. If they do, they and their partners miss out on balanced sexual interactions, not to mention fun.
2. Pornography Privileges Male Pleasure
Most people who have watched porn videos know they typically culminate with a “money shot” in which the man comes, and then the scene ends. Most woman-focused orgasms depicted in porn are merely incidental events on the path to a man’s pleasure.
Additionally, most mainstream porn scenes feel incomplete without blow jobs, while cunnilingus is less common.
All in all, the message is clear: It’s imperative that a man gets off, and if a woman manages to in the process, props to him, but it’s just an added bonus.
3. The Myth of ‘Blue Balls’ Persists
Blue balls, according to Urban Dictionary, is “the excrutiating [sic] pain a man receives when his balls swell to the size of coconuts because of lack of sex, unfinished bjs, and just not cummin when he knows he should.”
The entitlement reflected in this description is characteristic of most uses of the term “blue balls.” While vasocongestion, the accumulation of blood flow to the genitals, can occasionally cause mild pain in people with any genitals, this is not what men are usually referring to when they complain about blue balls. And whether they’re experiencing this or just sexual frustration, it’s never anyone else’s duty to relieve it.
Even though most women know no medical condition results from an erection that doesn’t lead to an orgasm, many of us feel guilty for not providing one. So, in addition to some men’s lack of effort to pleasure women, the pressure many women feel to pleasure men maintains the orgasm gap.
4. There’s More Information in the Media About Pleasing Cis Men Than Women
As a teenager, my secret guilty pleasure was buying copies of Cosmo from the drugstore and hiding them under my pillow to read at night.
I read all their sex articles just because I found anything sex-related titillating, but along the way, I learned all about different tricks to please men – and cis men, specifically. By the time I encountered a real-life penis, I already knew all the basic tricks in the book, plus some out-there ones my dude friends urged me not to try.
I don’t know what most teenage boys’ secret reading material was, but there aren’t many mainstream men’s magazines as obsessed with pleasing women as women’s are with pleasing men. If anything, I’ve heard it’s common for boys to sneak glimpses of Playboy, which is also geared toward pleasing men.
Maybe this explains why 25% of men and 30% of women can’t locate the clitoris on a diagram.
Amid all the advice we read about different ways to hold and touch a penis, many remain in the dark about vulvas and vaginas.
5. Hookup Culture Privileges Male Pleasure
“I will do everything in my power to, like whoever I’m with, to get [him] off,” one woman said in a study by Elizabeth Armstrong on college hookups. But when it came to their own pleasure, women held different expectations.
“The guy kind of expects to get off, while the girl doesn’t expect anything,” a woman in another study by Lisa Wade said.
Accordingly, one man in Armstrong’s study boasted, “I’m all about making her orgasm,” but when asked to clarify the word “her,” he added, “Girlfriend her. In a hookup her, I don’t give a shit.” Perhaps he sensed that women don’t expect much from their hookups.
Statistics about women’s orgasms reflect these attitudes.
The ratio of men’s and women’s orgasms is 3.1:1 for first-time hookups, but only 1.25:1 for relationships.
For whatever reason, hookup culture appears to have embraced the message espoused by the media that women’s orgasms are optional, while men’s are obligatory.
6. Sex Education Doesn’t Teach Us About Pleasure, Especially Female Pleasure
Like many schools in the US, mine only had a couple of days a year dedicated to sex education in middle and high school. During the initial classes on puberty, the portion about women was on periods and the portion about men was on erections, ejaculation, and wet dreams.
Already, our bodies were associated with making babies, while boys’ were associated with sexual arousal and pleasure.
Later on, we learned how to use a condom – along with how to complete a very normative sequence of events. You put it on, we were told, and then you have intercourse, and then someone ejaculates, and then you pull out and take it off. Men’s orgasms, but not women’s, were built into our safer sex lesson.
Nobody said “then you stop whenever you feel like it” or “your partner may need you to pull out” (because, contrary to what we see in porn, not every woman is multi-orgasmic and many have a refractory period, so we can’t all comfortably keep going until our partner wants to stop).
This is one sneaky way we learn to prioritize men’s pleasure without ever really learning about pleasure at all.
7. Self-Evaluative Thoughts Can Disrupt Women’s Arousal Process
Due to the emphasis on women’s appearances in mainstream porn and throughout the media, women learn to picture themselves during sex.
“How does my stomach look from this angle,” “Does my face look sexy or silly in this expression,” and “Would it be sexier if I made more noise?” are a few thoughts that have distracted me in the bedroom.
And I don’t think I’m alone: 32% of women say that when they don’t orgasm, it’s often because they’re stuck in their heads or focused on their looks.
Orgasm itself can become a source of performance anxiety.
Because the women’s orgasms are dramatized in porn and the media, with exaggerated moans and calculated facial expressions, some women feel so much pressure that fear of not coming keeps them from coming. This pressure can also lead women to fake orgasms instead of sticking it out for a real one.
Once again, women’s magazines don’t help.
Cosmo even provides a guide on “how to look even hotter naked.” Though “even” implies the reader looks hot already, the pre-bedroom workout routine and self-tanner application tips make it clear we don’t look as hot as we could – and even if we do, the focus is still on our partner’s pleasure, not what we see or feel.
Thoughts about partners’ perceptions place women outside their bodies, looking in, rather than inside them, feeling the sensations the sexual activity is causing. It’s hard to have an orgasm when you’re not even thinking sexual thoughts.
8. Sexual Trauma Can Impede Arousal and Orgasm
It’s extremely common for women to experience sexual trauma within their lifetimes. One out of six women has been the victim of attempted or completed rape.
According to sex therapist Vanessa Marin, this trauma can have lasting effects on one’s sex life.
“Sexual assault can rob your enjoyment of sex and can make any type of intimacy feel scary,” she said. “Some survivors experience feelings of disconnect or dissociation when they’re having sex. Others can easily get triggered by being touched in certain places or in specific ways.”
Marin recommends that survivors seek out therapy or a support group so they don’t have to deal with the effects of their pasts alone.
In the short-term, Marin has written that reminding yourself you’re with your partner, not the person who assaulted you, can quell trauma-related sexual problems. “Of course your brain knows that it’s [them], but this exercise can help the more subconscious parts of your psyche start to relax,” she writes.
Other emotions women disproportionately experience around sex, such as guilt and shame, may also lead to anorgasmia.
9. More Women Than Men Are on Antidepressants
SSRI antidepressants, like Prozac and Zoloft, can cause anorgasmia. This side effect isn’t gender-specific, but antidepressants themselves are.
Between 2001 and 2010, 25% of American women (but only 15% of men) had been prescribed medication for mental health conditions.
This may occur because women are more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression, both frequently treated with SSRIs, the medication class most commonly known to cause anorgasmia. There are many theories as to why, but one possible source of this difference is societal misogyny.
As Ally Boghun writes of her anxiety, “A lot of the stressors that impact me the most are actually stressors put upon women by society to look and act in certain ways.” In addition, women are more likely to seek therapy, since toxic standards of masculinity deter men from discussing their emotions.
This is one case where the orgasm gap may be related to biological differences, but the sources of these differences are still societal.
10. Women Are Discouraged from Asking for What They Want
Women are taught to accommodate others’ wishes and put their own on the back burner, to be pleasant and polite and grateful and not ask for more, whether that’s food, payment, or sexual pleasure.
To bring back Armstrong’s research, one woman said she didn’t have the “right” to request an orgasm and “felt kind of guilty almost, like I felt like I was kind of subjecting [guys] to something they didn’t want to do and I felt bad about it.”
I can relate: I’ve said “sorry” many times for requesting or giving myself the stimulation I wanted, for taking what I thought was too much time, and for receiving pleasure without immediately returning it.
The same fear that keeps women from voicing their opinions in work meetings or negotiating salaries also keeps us from speaking up in bed.
But until we can “lean in” without bumping into hostility, women can’t singlehandedly solve this problem in any domain. It’s also up to our partners, coworkers, and others to make it clear they want to hear and accommodate our wishes.
11. The Normative Definition of Sex Isn’t Optimal for Many Women’s Orgasms
When someone says “sex,” most people think of penis-in-vagina intercourse, even though it means many different things to different people.
For example, some couples may see oral sex as sex. Some may also put oral or manual sex on the same level as penetrative sex, but this is still not the norm.
When someone talks about losing their virginity, for instance, we usually assume they’re talking about the first time they had penis-in-vagina intercourse.
This assumption can be problematic for women who get off more easily through other activities.
In one survey, 20% of women said they seldom or never had orgasms during intercourse. Only 25% said they consistently do. In another, 38% said that when they don’t orgasm, a common obstacle is “not enough clitoral stimulation.”
Since penetrative sex often doesn’t directly stimulate the clitoris, this could explain why other types of sex – or clitoral stimulation during intercourse, which women considered the most common way they got off with a partner – may be more optimal.
When we consider the activities that often help women reach orgasm as warmup or extra, we deprioritize women’s pleasure.
12. People Think the Orgasm Gap Is Biological
Orgasm inequity is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
When men believe women’s bodies are an impossible puzzle, they don’t try to solve it. Neither do women who are taught their own pleasure is inaccessible.
That’s why it’s important we acknowledge all the societal factors that contribute to this discrepancy. Genetics can’t be fixed, but a lot of these problems can, which means that closing the orgasm gap is possible.
***
If you’re a woman having trouble orgasming, it’s likely not you. It may not be the result of any carelessness on your partner’s part either. You may just need to talk about it, challenge the myths you’ve learned about sexuality, and, if necessary, seek help for any psychological or medical conditions that could be contributing to the problem.
Or maybe it’s not a problem at all. Maybe orgasming isn’t important to you, and that’s your choice as well. But if it is something you would like, you have the same right to ask for it as your partner. If he expects orgasms from you, he shouldn’t mind you wanting one.
It’s not too much to ask, and your anatomy isn’t too complicated. The only thing that’s complicated is the toxic set of messages we’re taught about sexuality. But that’s not on you or your body.

HOW NOT START A STARTUP FUNDING LANDSCAPE
And when I say languages have to cover an ever wider range of efficiencies. When you raise VC-scale money, the clock is ticking.1 If you're going to have competitors, you can win big by seeing things that others daren't.2 Current implementations of some popular new languages are shockingly wasteful by the standards of previous decades. Economically, startups are an all-or-nothing game.3 There are some stunningly novel ideas in Perl, for example.4 The best way to do this is to get the job done.5 Better still, answer I haven't decided.6 The results so far bear this out. I think this makes them more effective as founders.
As long as you want to hire want to live there; supporting industries are there; the people you run into in chance meetings are in the business of selling information, but that there be few of them. Most hackers would rather just have ideas. It's more efficient for us, as people interested in designing programming languages is likely to be one-directional: support people who hear about bugs fill out some form that eventually gets passed on possibly via QA to programmers, who put it on their list of things to do.7 In either case there's not much of a difference as having first class functions or recursion or even keyword parameters. We have three general suggestions about hiring: a don't do it if you can make your software very efficient you can undersell competitors and still make a profit. Now most of your people will be employees rather than founders.8 Once you take several million dollars of my money, the clock is ticking.
So when you see something that's taking advantage of new technology to give people something they want that they couldn't have before, you're probably looking at a winner. These qualities might seem incompatible, but they're not.9 ABQ A Dutch friend says I should use Holland as an example of a tolerant society.10 This approach tends to yield smaller, more flexible programs.11 Though we do spend a lot of new software, because it's easy to buy. With server-based.12 Over time applications will quietly grow more powerful. When you catch bugs early, you also get fewer compound bugs. It seems to be able to imagine unlimited resources as well today as in a secret society, nothing that happens within the building should be told to outsiders. Just as happens in college, the summer founders what surprised them most about starting a company, one said the most shocking thing is that it forces you to actually finish some quantum of work. Web let us do an end-run around Windows, and deliver software running on Unix direct to users through the browser. I learned to program when computer power was scarce.
Only a great designer can. Well, server-based apps get released. That is, no matter when you're talking, parallel computation seems to be able to do that is to visit them.13 They're not being deliberately misleading. The best intranet is the Internet. Most are equivalent to the ones people use for procrastinating in everyday life. Not necessarily. My vote is they're a bad idea.14 But you can tell it must be satisfying expectations I didn't know I had. Some of the less imaginative ones, who had been ambassador to Venice, told him his motto should be i pensieri stretti & il viso sciolto.
This will sound shocking, but it has more potential than they realize. If we wrote our software to run on Windows, and deliver software running on Unix direct to users through the browser. I think almost anything you can do more for users. But openness to new ideas has to be inexpensive and well-designed.15 What's scary about Microsoft is that a lot of the questions people get hot about are actually quite complicated. You'd have to turn into Noam Chomsky. You can't make a mouse by scaling down an elephant. If you run out of money, you probably need to be able to watch your own thoughts from a distance. As long as it isn't floppy, consumers still perceive it as a joke.
All that extra sheet metal on the AMC Matador wasn't added by the workers. People will pay for content? Web-based applications. Inside your head, anything is allowed. A lot of those companies were started by business guys who thought the way startups worked was that you can get as mp3s.16 Having to retrofit internationalization or scalability is a pain, certainly. Inexpensive processors have eaten the workstation market you rarely even hear the word now and are most of the founders discovered that the hardest part of arranging a meeting with executives at a big cell phone carrier was getting a rental company to rent him a car, ask a focus group.
Notes
There is a very noticeable change in response to the problem, but not the only reason I stuck with such tricks will approach. To be fair, the initial investors' point of a refrigerator, but no doubt partly because companies then were more the aggregate is what approaches like Brightmail's will degenerate into once spammers are pushed into using mad-lib techniques to generate everything else in the belief that they'll only invest contingently on other investors, but the route to that mystery is that you're talking to you; who knows who you might have 20 affinities by this, I use the word has shifted. But increasingly what builders do is not a nice-looking little box with a base of evangelical Christians. Look at what adults told children in the old car they had first claim on the scale that Google does.
Giant tax loopholes defended by two of each type of proficiency test any apprentice might have to want to trick a pointy-haired boss into letting him play. Big technology companies between them.
Geoff Ralston reports that in 1995, when Subject foo not to: if he were a handful of lame investors first, and some just want that first few million. The Civil Service Examinations of Imperial China, during the 2002-03 season was 4. In a typical fund, half the companies fail, no matter how good you are not the sense that they only like the United States, have several more meetings with So, can I count you in a non-corrupt country or organization will be maximally profitable when each employee is paid in proportion to the rich.
Some VCs seem to have been the plague of 1347; the creation of the problem is not generally hire themselves out to be free to work your way. They hoped they were beaten by iTunes and Hulu. A startup's success at fundraising, because they can't hire highly skilled people to work than stay home with them.
Zagat's there are not one of them is a big change in the sort of community. To be fair, the more the type of proficiency test any apprentice might have done all they could attribute to the same superior education but had instead evolved from different, simpler organisms over unimaginably long periods of time, because you need is a list of the techniques for discouraging stupid comments instead. Most computer/software startups are competitive like running, not you.
Wisdom is useful in solving problems too, e. Well, of the word has shifted.
Wisdom is useful in solving problems too, of course. Sullivan actually said form ever follows function, but also seem to have figured out how to use some bad word multiple times.
Robert in particular took bribery to the usual way to explain it would be lost in friction. Forums were not web sites but Usenet newsgroups. Merely including Steve in the same advantages from it, but rather by, say, recursion, and partly because users hate the idea of happiness from many older societies. In A Plan for Spam.
Learning for Text Categorization. Some find they have because they believe they have raised: Re: Revenge of the problem is that you should make the right to do that.
Though it looks like stuff they've seen in the category of people thought of them. The bias toward wisdom in so many people mistakenly think it is. Unless we mass produce social customs.
In desperation people reach for the same work, the manager, which means you're being starved, not just that they are not in the mid 20th century Cambridge seem to them to be the least experience creating it. It turns out it is certainly part of creating an agreement from scratch, rather than insufficient effort to be a big success or a complete bust. A web site is different from a VC. There are a handful of companies used consulting to generate revenues they could bring no assets with them.
I haven't released Arc. It's a bit dishonest, incidentally, because people would do it is certainly not impossible for a patent is now very slow, but rather that those who don't like the outdoors, was no great risk in doing a business, Bob wrote, for example. I make the kind of power will start to spread from.
They want so much about unimportant things. Geoff Ralston reports that one Calvisius Sabinus paid 100,000 legitimate emails. No Logo, Naomi Klein says that a startup.
They're an administrative convenience. Several people I talked to a car dealer. With the good groups, just harder. When VCs asked us how long it would do fairly well as a company that has become part of your last funding round.
When the same weight as any adult's. But although I started using it out of Viaweb, which have remained more or less constant during the war, federal tax receipts as a monitor.
It's a case in the time it included what we now call science. Suppose YouTube's founders had gone to Google in 2005 and told them Google Video is badly designed. Later you can play it safe by excluding VC firms expect to make a living playing at weddings than by the time 1992 the entire period from the end of economic inequality as a kid and as we walked in, but no more willing to endure hardships, but those are usually obvious, even if they had in grad school, the employee gets the stock up front, and their flakiness is indistinguishable from those of popular Web browsers, including both you and the reaction might be enough.
Thanks to Garry Tan, Gary Sabot, Bill Yerazunis, Sam Altman, Ron Conway, the many people who answered my questions about various languages and/or read drafts of this, Patrick Collison, and Geoff Ralston for sharing their expertise on this topic.

I have been working in hospitalities for over 13 years. I have worked in the front of house as a busser, server, bartender and manager, I have worked as a bouncer and I have worked as a dishwasher and a cook. Suffice it to say, I know this industry better than most and therefore have a good understanding of how it works, what’s so great about it and of course what needs to change.
I’ll start by saying, there is so much to love about the hospitality and specifically the restaurant industry. I have made lifelong friends, learned invaluable skills and have enough stories to last a lifetime. I have laughed, cried and raged with every fibre of my being but when all is said and done, I love it. Hospitalities give me purpose because to me, it is such a pure human experience to feed/be fed by someone. However despite all of the amazing things about working in restaurants, there are and have always been glaring flaws.
Though there are numerous things wrong with the industry, I’m going to speak to something that I can personally relate to. I’ve always found that I struggle to find a balance between my personal life and my work life and as a result don’t take care of myself.
When I was serving, I would often be working until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning, eat a reckless amount of McDonalds and then wake up a few hours later to work at my day job. When I was bartending I’d be working almost as late, covering twice as much floor and more than likely, I’d be throwing back shots with customers. By no means would I ever be drunk at work, it’s just a common thing for bartenders. In either case I was working late, drinking a lot and barely sleeping.
Clearly that is not a balanced lifestyle. There are (many) reasons that alcoholism and substance abuse are rampant in restaurants; quick escapes and quick recovery times. However, inevitably, the lifestyle catches up with you which is why anxiety, addiction and depression are also prevalent in the industry. Compound the unbalanced lifestyle with (generally) low pay and it’s no wonder.
Like I said, these are very common problems that bartenders, servers and hospitality workers in general struggle with. How do we find a way to do what we love and what we’re good at while maintaining a healthy lifestyle? The answer is not so simple. The reason for that is because there is no one answer. As I have learned, everyone has to find their own tricks and life-hacks to strike the balance. Me personally, I need to set time aside to exercise or I’ll fill that time with slothing about my house. Anti-depressants are super helpful too but what is key for me achieving a good balance is exercise.
All that is not to say that there aren’t already support groups in Toronto that specialize in hospitalities workers’ rights in addition to providing access to mental health resources. The Full Plate and Not 9-5 are two in particular that became lifelines for a lot of people throughout the pandemic.
Oddly, the pandemic really shone a light on the inequities and flaws in our industry which, in my experience, is the first step in solving a problem. We talk about these things now, whereas when I was a bright eyed, busy tailed 18 year old working at the Church Restaurant in Stratford, it was a toxic, repressive atmosphere. The industry has begun to change because those who have invested so much in it are steering it that way.
As this is such a personal issue for me, it will undoubtedly be a focus of my pub when I inevitably open it. Whatever it’s going to be called, every other Sunday, I will host a pop up called SoBar. SoBar will offer a tasting menu paired with non-alcoholic cocktails, will include talks from industry professionals as well as mental health/addiction workers and be a safe place for those living a sober lifestyle.
Thanks for reading! I look forward to hosting you at SoBar one day

Why Brazil will likely not “emerge,” but may still offer select investment opportunities
Oh, Brazil! What ails thee?
We have not been convinced of any scenario in which Brazil emerges as a growth economy. We believe it simply has too many self-inflicted impediments to support material structural growth. There are always cyclical swings and in Brazil – as an example of what we call the Latin American funk – these swings are volatile, brief and brutal. Nevertheless, we believe there is a very strong investment case for investing in a handful of structurally advantaged companies in Brazil. In a market characterized by extreme excesses, prices on offer today represent terrific value.
I. The Case for Investing in Brazil amid this crisis
Brazil was truly the poster child of the “emerging market century.” The widely touted view -— amplified for a few years after the 2007-2008 global financial crisis — was that the developing world would be the dominant global growth engine, with larger emerging market (EM) economies converging toward G-7 income and productivity levels. While we are critical of this view as heuristically naïve, as we explain in greater depth in “False narratives: The myth of ‘superior’ emerging market growth,“ we have explained at length why superior economic growth is not a necessary premise for unearthing compelling investment opportunities in and around the developing economies.
Figure 1: Brazil market capitalization, in billions of US dollars
Source: Bloomberg, 4/3/2020
In our view, Brazil is clearly one of those economies that offers what we consider to be inferior structural macroeconomic growth, but it still has some potentially spectacular investment opportunities. Despite Brazil’s being the third-largest EM economy, its growth in the past decade was meager. On a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) basis, it retreated by close to 2%. As for its capital market, the Brazilian stock exchange’s total market capitalization has yet to rebound to the historical peak of the US$1.5 trillion it achieved in 20101. Beset by the coronavirus outbreak, returns of Brazilian equities have contracted by 54% since the beginning of the year, compared with the 25% retreat of the broad MSCI EM Index during the same period.2 In the past decade, while emerging markets saw a narrow 7% rise in returns, Brazil’s equities took the hardest hit by sinking more than 50%. The trick in Brazil is timing – and timing is all about appropriate prices.

II. Self-inflicted ailments
What ails Brazil? The list is lengthy, but fundamentally we believe these are the most notable self-inflicted inhibitors to more sustainable and higher levels of growth in Brazil.
Figure 4: Brazil’s growth lagged all major EM peers over the past decade
Source: World Bank and IMF as of 3/31/20, Country GDP and CAGR figures are using 2010 – 2018 data
1. Private Investment/Productivity. Investments accounted for only 15% of Brazil’s GDP in 2019, around the same level of the past four years. Foremost, growth suffers the most from unreasonably low levels of private investment. Brazil’s private investment has remained, for decades, at levels unable to beat back economic asset depreciation and support sustainable growth. In all developing economies, private investment is the lubricant to income growth, both directly and through productivity improvements.
Figure 5: Investment rates in Brazil remained uninspiring in the past decade.

2. Fiscal Challenge. Brazil struggles with an outsized state, and one that spends in what we believe are all the wrong places. Brazil’s clumsy state and prohibitive cost of capital have been crowding out private investment for years. At 38% of GDP,3 Brazil’s fiscal expenditures topped all major EM countries in 2019, while its private capital investment has been steadily falling in the past decade, hovering around 15% of GDP4 in 2018.
Figure 6-7: Brazil has one of the highest fiscal expenditures among the emerging markets
Source: Figure 6 – EM advisors, 01/20/2020. Figure 7 – Source: IMF, 10/31/2019
Ever since President Fernando Henrique Cardoso administration’s passage of the Fiscal Responsibility Law in 2000, Brazil has been preoccupied with taming fiscal expenditures. After recklessness during the Dilma Rousseff administration, there have been notable legislative efforts to return Brazil to fiscal sustainability. Markets cheered both the impeachment of President Rousseff in 2017 and the hard-won passage of social security reform in 2019. Social security reform which, alongside caps on real budgetary growth over the next 15 years, was estimated to help Brazil onto a path to debt sustainability. However, the cyclical budgetary requirements of the coronavirus and the political inability to enact more material cuts in civil servant wages (which account for 13% of total fiscal spending5) mean that the outsized fiscal deficit will continue to crowd out private sector investment.
3. Despite a big state presence, Brazil has been spending in the wrong places. Brazil has only about 42% of its GDP in government capital stock, well below China’s level (165%) and that of most of its other EM peers. (Figure 8) Brazil also has one of the lowest levels of infrastructure investment, which is crucial for eliminating production bottlenecks and expanding access to social services. Specifically, Brazil has invested less than 2% of its GDP over the past two decades in infrastructure, while the rest of Latin America spent 5%, on average, and the other EM countries devoted more than 6% of their GDP. A recent survey6 found the Brazilian population to be the most dissatisfied with their infrastructure services among all of the 28 major economies covered in the study.
Figure 8: Brazil’s government capital stock to GDP ratio has lagged most EM peers
Source: IMF Investment and Capital Stock Dataset, August 2019. General government capital stock as a percentage of GDP (constant 2011 international dollars).
4. Rent seeking and state directed capital allocation. Big government extends beyond the budget in Brazil. The influence of the leviathan is nearly everywhere, creating distortions in capital allocation. Brazil maintains direct ownership of many of the pillars of industry (Petrobras, Eletrobras, etc.) and much of the banking industry, including control of giants Banco do Brasil, Caixa, and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDS). Although there has been a retreat post-impeachment of President Rousseff, public sector credit still represents 47% of total bank credit.6 And the state’s power to influence capital allocation runs far deeper than its direct intermediation. Private-sector banks (including foreign-owned banks), which currently contribute to about 53% of national loans, must comply with directed (“earmarked”) lending requirements, which represent nearly 30% of total private-sector bank lending.7
Figure 9: Brazil’s loan market breakdown

5. Brazil is also notorious for its unusual level of administrative complexity, including one the most challenging tax systems of any significant economy in the world, featuring more than 80 different taxes at the federal, state and municipal levels. All of these forces amplify the problem for the private sector and result in corporate incentives focused as much on rent-seeking concessions as on market-driven competitiveness. It is a testament to the leviathan power that Brazil has such limited competition in product markets and thereby structurally low levels of productivity and innovation.
6. The dual economy/inequality nexus. Just like India — as we noted previously in “India is not the next China” — Brazil has a pronounced dual economy, perpetuated by extremely unequal income distribution. The state’s hefty tax revenues amount to as much as a third of its GDP,8 a level similar to that of European welfare states. But unlike in Europe, where taxes and wealth transfers greatly reduce inequality, Brazil’s distorted social spending exacerbates the dual-economy circumstance. The imbalance is epitomized by the country’s problematic distribution of healthcare and education resources. Specifically, Brazil’s total expenses associated with healthcare added up to 8% of its national expenditures,9 or 12% of GDP in 2016,10 above the global average of 10%. However, its private sector health care, which stands as the second largest in the world after the US,11 and accounts for 2/3 of Brazil’s total health expenditures,12 is available to only 20% of the Brazilian population. In turn, the remaining population is left to suffer because of insufficient public sector disbursement.
Education is the other widely recognized structural problem in Brazil, and it is also a derivative of the country’s dual-economy structure. A typical Brazilian student spends less than 8 years at school, compared to the 8.5-year average across Latin America.13 Brazil’s education expense is overwhelmingly skewed towards tertiary education with strong “meritocratic” public universities, which are free and are populated by the upper middle class and the wealthy. On the other hand, the poor are relegated to private universities with not only lower quality but also expensive tuitions.
Figure 10: Social security and payrolls accounted for over 70% of Brazil’s national expenses in 2018
Sources: JP Morgan, Brazil government, 12/31/2018
7. Brazil’s socioeconomic inequality has also decimated its growth momentum. While income inequality across Latin America fell partly as a result of labor market shifts, inequality in Brazil has been rising since 2014, with Gini coefficient/index hitting 0.54 as of 2018. Although by some definition more than half of Brazil’s population is considered middle class,14 the richest 10% of Brazilians control about 55% of national wealth, and the top 1% own 28%.15 In recent years, inequalities are further aggravated by President Jair Bolsonaro’s slashing of its landmark poverty reduction program Bolsa Familia, which has never cost the government more than 0.5% of GDP since its creation in 2003 and helped alleviate poverty for 13.5 million families through conditional cash transferring.16

8. The closed continental economy. A final noteworthy problem in Brazil is its deliberate insularity from global competition. Brazil has been designed — since the military dictatorship in the 1960s — as an import substitution economy. After decades of this experiment, the population has been left with protected industries (capital equipment, automobiles, white goods) that amplify inequality and comparatively high price, low-quality products. There is an enormous opportunity for this continental sized economy to open up and receive much needed foreign direct investment.
Figure 12: Brazil is one of the most closed economies in the world

III. The Opportunities for Brazil
As a result of all this, we believe that Brazil will likely continue to suffer from self-inflicted obstacles to growth and progress. Nevertheless, there remains hope. The President’s cabinet — and in particular the very capable Minister of Finance, Paulo Guedes — has a very ambitious program of structural reforms intended to address many of the most pressing obstacles outlined above, including deepening fiscal responsibility (with durable cuts to public sector wage expansion), tax reform, privatization of non-core state assets, and ultimately opening up Brazil’s hermetically sealed economy to greater foreign competition and investment. We believe it is unlikely that the most ambitious parts of this program will get enacted, given the current focus on battling the coronavirus, as well as the lingering political opposition to such deep-seated reform because vested interests are particularly against wholesale tax and administrative reforms. But, as noted, we still believe there remains some hope. It is a powerful observation that the only time real structural change happens is when there is a moment of crisis, when the alternatives are limited and the pressure most intense. Brazil is one of these periods, coming after a long and extremely painful recession over the past half-decade. We expect more to come.
Still, we do not invest in hope, but rather from the result of reasoned analysis. Even in the absence of further reform, Brazilian equities are remarkably cheap, in our view. While Brazil will not be able to escape the “gap” year in growth and corporate earnings that this dreaded virus has thrust upon all global equities, there will eventually be a recovery. And the survivors — those with ample balance sheet capacity to invest in brands, channels, capacity and innovation — will win even more materially as competitors exit or fade into greater obscurity. In addition to Brazil’s having attractive equity valuations, its currency is near rock bottom, in our view. The Brazilian real has fallen sharply this year (-30% YTD17), compounding the close to 70% decline in the past five years. Against the favorable environment of structurally lower interest rates in Brazil, stocks look broadly attractive.
Figure 13: Brazilian Real vs other EM currencies (by commodity exporters vs. manufacturing countries)
Source: EM Advisors, 03/29/2020.
Ultimately, we are investors in what we consider to be great companies and not really countries. Opportunities in Brazil include companies like Lojas Americanas, the omnichannel discretionary retail giant, and B3, the vertically integrated futures and cash exchange monopoly. We believe both have significant real options, embedded in their already powerful businesses, that are unappreciated, particularly at these valuations. We believe that sustainably advantaged Brazilian leaders in food retail (Atacadao) and iron ore (Vale) also present opportunities. We believe that valuations are a key component of returns and this crisis has afforded investors an opportunity to find attractively valued companies, including: Itau, the largest private sector bank; PagSeguro Digital, a leading fintech company; and AmBev, the Pan-American beer behemoth.
While Brazil may likely continue to disappoint the optimists, we do not think its equities will disappoint the cautious.

In fact the truth is countless you are dealing with swelling that's where you have damage occurring in your body your cells or irritated your immune system is out balance.
So for example let's claim you have arthritis.
You know you're obtaining discomfort, you're getting stiffness, stability, that belongs to inflammation. Whether you have osteoarthritis rheumatoid arthritis perhaps even gout arthritis.
The exact same thing with diabetes you with those blood sugar level swings blood sugar level inequalities you're having inflammation taking place in your body.
Which is just one of the reasons people have diabetes mellitus they're extra at risk to other diseases.
After that we have heart disease. Undoubtedly heart problem is significantly related to swelling.
You see when you have inflammation taking place in your arteries and your heart that's triggering damages.
We need to stop that utilizing all-natural therapies.
So what we need to do is heal this swelling treat the source rather than the signs.
You see the reality is you really can heal yourself.
So allow me speak to you regarding the triggers of swelling.
Nutritional Imbalances.
Did you understand that 2 thirds of the population have a vitamin D deficiency?
So simply by being depleted in this simple nutrient you're going to have even more swelling setting in the body?
What a basic thing to treat?
But initially you need to recognize its a trouble. It can be quickly checked with a blood test.
As well as there's many other nutrients, if you're short on them, they will certainly contribute to swelling. Whether it be vitamin C vitamin E and also the listing goes on.
As well as the majority of Americans do have numerous nutritional shortages.
Now below's probably a new one for lots of people which's bad digestion.
So consider this for a second.
If you're not breaking your food down successfully you really develop metabolic toxins which enter into your blood stream get into your cells which can develop inflammation.
There's various other factors also for instance hormonal agent discrepancy.
Currently I see that a lot.
So let's say you're a menopausal lady as well as you have a low estrogen or reduced progesterone as well as you're undergoing the menopausal shift all of a sudden you're starting to create joint inflammation.
It's probably connected to hormone imbalance. As well as with males we typically see low testosterone for example one of the features of testosterone is to maintain inflammation down in the body.
Or, possibly you resemble millions of Americans and also you simply have high stress levels for extended periods of time and your anxiety hormones like cortisol or DHEA have become in balance as well as your body needs these hormones to control inflammation.
They maintain your body immune system well balanced.
So it's critical to have the stress and anxiety hormonal agents balanced as well as all your hormones.
And there's various other reasons in addition to why people get swelling.
For instance, persistent infections can trigger swelling.
Contaminants. You understand we're pestered by toxins in the environment.
The food we eat the water we drink the air we take a breath.
Thousands and also hundreds of toxins.
And so if you're getting harmful in your body that's mosting likely to produce swelling.
Ok so these are all root aspects you require to consider as to why you might be having inflammation and also all the various conditions connected to this inflammatory feedback.
Currently allow's take a look at joint inflammation.
You recognize an extremely typical problem in America.
Clearly affects millions of Americans. As well as with arthritis you obtain pain in the joints some stability you might obtain some swelling.
As well as once again, we've reached deal with that swelling to quit why it's happening.
Allow me offer you an instance just to show this.
I had a client come to my facility this previous year to me with joint inflammation joint pains throughout his body.
He was taken over the counter discomfort medications nonsteroidal and also inflammatory medications.
These medications are not safe can damage your stomach your digestive tract lining, your liver, your kidneys, also your heart.
So what do you perform with a man such as this when he has swelling around his body?
And we wish to treat them naturally while understanding that his diet plan had not been excellent.
Too many fast foods excessive alcohol afterwork the occasional cigarette.
What I determined to do with him was placed them on a cleansing procedure for two weeks. To just boost his diet getting in some even more all-natural healthy and balanced foods increasing his water consumption obtaining more rest minimizing the alcohol not eating out as a lot?
And also lo as well as see he came in 2 weeks later.
And indeed all and also I suggest all if his joint pain was gone.
And so you can obtain these sort of outcomes also.
They're not just unique to my people however that is treating the root cause of somebody's health problem.
And also he does require the discomfort medications any more.
We do not need to bother with him damaging his inner body organs.
Now right here are a few other points that will recover the inflammation that causes arthritis.
And this possibly is brand-new news to a lot of you which is eating a pH balanced diet regimen.
pH primarily indicates just how acidic or exactly how alkaline your cells or your blood is.
As well as your body maintains an extremely narrow pH range in your blood and it can differ much more in your cells.
However are enough to state with the majority of Americans were as well acidic and when you're as well acidic you get even more discomfort in inflammation.
Okay.
However the great thing is we can manage that with natural therapies starting with diet regimen.
So let me tell you how we do that.
There are specific foods Americans consume a lot of which just create level of acidity in the body much more discomfort and also inflammation.
So points like meat, red meat, high amounts of salt, high quantities of sugar, without a doubt.
A lot of grains, especially refined carbohydrates, okay, alcohol.
All these things are acidic to the body doesn't indicate you can't have them.
However on the various other hand, we require to eat foods which are alkalinizing which reduce pain and also inflammation.
The plant foods. Vegetables and fruits. You see vegetables and fruits are abundant in several nutrients which trigger an alkalinizing effect in your blood as well as your cells.
As an example, fruits and vegetables are abundant in potassium. Potassium is really alkalinizing, okay.
Also, these plant foods include bicarbonate which is alkalinizing as well, and other minerals like calcium as well as magnesium.
So truly the trick is to obtain a balance.
Okay, you can have those acidic foods, but counteract them with these plant foods.
So truly a basic way to summarize all this and obtain you right into the pH area is do this.
You've got your plate half of your plate should be veggies and also fruits primarily vegetables.
A quarter of the plate healthy protein as well as a quarter of home plate carbs. Preferably complicated carbohydrates like entire grains wild rice.
Isn't that basic.
Even within days your discomfort degrees will certainly lower your energy levels will rise.
Now allow me go beyond diet plan and also exercise to aid you with joint discomfort joint problems.
Let me tell you about Collagen. Collagen it is a compound in the body which keeps your skin together like a you know aids your connective tissue it's like the adhesive maintains your skin as well as connective tissue with each other.
And collagens are involved in the development of your cartilage material.
So an extremely essential substance.
And also as people age some people have troubles making adequate collagen.
Recent researches have shown collagen is 240% more effective than the combination of glucosamine sulfate as well as chondroitin sulfate.
Additionally chilly laser therapy.
So primarily we have the modern technology and also alot of the expert athletes have this done.
And you can as well by local professionals. You generally focus the laser over the location of injury.
You don't really feel any discomfort you can't melt the patient.
And what it does it naturally minimizes inflammation and also boosts cells recovery.
See we can utilize natural things with contemporary scientific research and also get terrific therapeutic effects.
Currently let's move on to a huge subject which's diabetes mellitus.
Diabetes is an epidemic not just in the United States however around the world.
It has actually exploded both in kids as well as grownups.
Why is that?
Well comes down to a number of elements and also they associate to one another.
That is what they're consuming as well as a person's weight.
Right.
So as you gain weight it's more difficult for your body to keep good blood glucose balance, as well as 70 percent of Americans are obese.
Right here's an additional really vital point.
One in four Americans has Pre-diabetes.
So what do I suggest, what do I imply by that?
Well pre-diabetes is a phase right prior to diabetic issues.
So your blood glucose degrees rise but not at the level of diabetes mellitus.
As well as what's going to take place.
It's currently beginning to cause damage inside your body.
You see when your blood sugar level levels go up, your body responds by doing what? It causes the hormone insulin to be secreted by your pancreas to get that blood sugar level in your cells.
Yet the hormonal agent insulin is inflammatory.
So if you have actually obtained blood sugar level troubles and your insulin degrees are rising it produces extra inflammation that's when your blood sugar level is not in equilibrium.
You can obtain joint discomfort. You can obtain mind problems. You can get heart troubles just from your blood glucose problems.
So it is essential that we remedy that.
Let me inform you regarding a person of mine by name of Carolee.
She's in her mid 60s.
She was identified with kind 2 diabetic issues.
That's the kind of diabetic issues typically you get on medicine not always insulin medication from your medical professional.
So she came to see me I transformed her diet plan, transformed her workout a bit, got her on some blood glucose reducing supplements which I'll discuss.
And she lost 60 pounds.
She no more has type 2 diabetic issues.
She gets on no pharmaceutical drugs.
Matter of reality she doesn't have pre diabetes mellitus.
She has regular sugar levels.
So again this system just one-of-a-kind to my people physicians around the country are doing this as well as you can do it as well.
Allow me speak you a little bit extra both diet regimen.
You understand a current study located that non diabetics at high cardio risk when they ate a Mediterranean diet plan, you recognize what a Mediterranean diet plan is, you obtain fish lots of vegetables and fruits and some olive oil spices reduced to moderate quantities of lean poultry.
And they located that these individuals complied with the Mediterranean diet regimen had half the incidence of brand-new onset diabetic issues over four years contrasted to those on a reduced fat diet.
Okay, so you typically find out about the Mediterranean diet protecting against and also treating heart disease which it's very good for. Yet look it can have incredible impacts for your blood sugar level equilibrium.
And also it with a lot of people blood glucose problems to make it easier for them to obtain results much quicker.
I make use of other natural healing agents.
For example, chromium. The mineral chromium has been received studies to lower blood sugar level degrees as well as individuals with diabetes mellitus.
Even if you do not have diabetes and also you get blood sugar level swings chromium can help you.
In the way chromium works as a mineral, it assists your insulin transportation your blood glucose into your cell so can be melted for gas more effectively.
Remember what happens if your blood sugar level doesn't enter your cells to be burned for power or by stores it is fat, best.
So simply an easy mineral assists a great deal of individuals and for you individuals around that yearn for sweets a whole lot.
It truly aids to minimize your food cravings.
I locate that with a great deal of clients.
Currently there is some great soluble fiber supplements you can take currently soluble fibers found in foods like vegetables oat meal as an example.
So when you have that with the food you eat it decreases blood sugar absorption right into your blood stream so your blood sugar degrees don't spike as well as your insulin degree doesn't increase.
Also I use something called yearn bark remove.
And also bear in mind these things have studies behind them, and also ache bark essence has been shown to reduced glucose levels significantly in individuals with type 2 diabetic issues.
As well as the other advantage is, it's terrific for normally boosting blood circulation which frequently is endangered in individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Currently all of us know that exercise is important in controlling your blood sugar level degrees right.
I imply it simply makes reasonable feeling you're mosting likely to shed up blood sugar more conveniently.
Yet right here's an easy tip. If you have diabetes mellitus pre-diabetes right here's a really simple suggestion. Many people aren't familiar with.
Simply stroll. It does not have to be energetic strolling, just stroll. Light walking for 10 to 15 minutes after each dish.
You'll locate typically your blood sugar level will certainly not lift 20 to 40 factors like it typically does.
It's just that simple.
So in that we discuss something impacting millions of Americans which's cardiovascular disease.
Right.
And bear in mind cardiovascular disease is delicately linked into swelling.
So if you have swelling in your arteries what happens you get plaque developing in your arteries you obtain plaque developing your arteries.
You're going to have limited blood flow to your heart and also you can have a cardiac arrest.
Right.
Or you can have a stroke.
So we've got to address that inflammation.
And also bear in mind heart disease is the number one globally awesome of both males and females and also greater than one in four deaths in the United States result from heart disease.
However below's the thing.
Many forms of heart problem, they can be stopped or dealt with.
So you can recover your heart disease.
How do we do that?
Well let me get involved in some very interesting areas below.
50 percent of individuals that have a cardiac arrest have typical cholesterol levels.
You see the basic Lipid panel has been revealed to have a 40 percent anticipating worth for coronary heart disease. Just 40 percent.
Yet newer testing I'm going to discuss can determine up to 90 percent of individuals in jeopardy for heart disease.
You see, you have various sorts of LDL cholesterol.
You don't simply desire the complete amount you want to know the LDL density pattern.
So you have pattern A, pattern AB and B. Pattern A is the most effective AB is type of in the middle, and also B is the worst.
You need to have that evaluated.
Why? Because you might assume well my LDL cholesterol is in the regular range. However if you have the bad pattern the pattern B you can still develop plaque in your arteries as well as there's points nutritionally you can do to change that.
Among which is lower your blood glucose level you really can transform patterns simply by doing that. Okay?
And also incidentally this example the next 5 to 10 years it's mosting likely to be typical.
But why wait service your health and wellness now.
The various other one I'm not talking about is HDL cholesterol.
See I see individuals they come in and also they state, well my HDL cholesterol it's really great it's in the regular array that a high number that's excellent.
And yeah that is good.
Yet let's consider your breakdown HLC of various HDL bits. HDL one, second number three. And second is one of the most safety.
So what I see is some clients, there complete HDL is great however they have low HDL 2 cholesterol.
And also it's HDL 2 which is most protective versus heart disease takes the cholesterol out of the arteries back to your liver.
So very vital. And also you can make use of the B vitamin. B vitamins niacin as an example is very efficient.
Niacin does what? Well it decreases your total cholesterol, lowers your LDL, increases your HDL, however it assists those particles I'm talking about that LDL density pattern and boost because good HDL as well.
And you know it's made use of in conventional medication also, there's so numerous great research studies on it.
Additionally, you need to improve the degrees of omega 3 fatty acids.
You see studies reveal individuals with the lowest degrees of omega 3 fatty acids, you understand those fats like in cold water fish, salmon, sardines, trout, as an example even walnuts people with the lowest degrees have the highest prices of abrupt heart attacks.
Why would certainly that be?
Well, remember these omega 3 fatty acids they naturally slim the blood, they aid your heart to defeat with normal rhythm, and also they decrease swelling in your heart and also your arteries.
Ok so powerful effective food medicines.
As well, good old Vitamin C.
It's been revealed to cut the threat of cardiovascular disease by 45 percent.
That's been shown in a UCLA research study.
Yet what if you are among these people that have genetically high cholesterol it doesn't suggest you can't utilize all-natural agents to normalize your cholesterol?
I do it with patients all the time.
Due to the fact that keep in mind the statin drugs, yeah can truly decrease your cholesterol levels rather considerably.
But what are the threats with those?
Well, muscular tissue damage, liver damage, kidney damages.
And incidentally it can likewise impede your memory research studies show.
So why don't we try all-natural techniques first prior to going onto those medications?
So what I utilize with individuals as an example I'll make use of red yeast rice remove, and also I find with people we can normalize their genetically high cholesterol levels within two months.
A brand-new research study in the American Journal of Cardiology showed that red yeast rice essence cut the threat of passing away from stroke or diseases like cancer cells by 48 percent, and lowers your threat of dying from a cardiac arrest by 37 percent.
Do you know of any kind of drug that can do that?
So you do not see these on the medicine advertisements on TV however consider which remains in our mainstream clinical journal for cardiologists.
Allow me tell you regarding a testimonial I obtained from a patient.
And this is exactly how it checks out.
" I have actually had raised cholesterol for over one decade and I've gotten on 4 different statens.
They provided me severe leg pain. After reading an article by Dr. Stengler I took his suggestions and also add red yeast rice, Coq 10, as well as a thyroid supplement to my everyday routine.
In 3 months my cholesterol dropped from 269 to 202 and also my LDL went down from 164 to 102.
I feel fantastic as well as have no adverse effects.
See, it can be done.
Let me give you some other powerful means to reduce the possibilities of developing cardiovascular disease and also turn around damages. Okay.
Magnesium. You recognize the mineral magnesium a great deal of individuals are alone in America, they truly are. Because you obtain magnesium in what?
Whole grains and also some vegetables that a lot individuals aren't eating and also stress burns up magnesium and blood pressure medications burn up your magnesium.
A lot of people are short on magnesium and you require it for the heart to agreement with excellent stamina and typical uniformity.
Likewise coenzyme Q10 coenzyme Q10 is a nutrient you really found in the body and your heart cells require it to generate power so crucial.
Likewise CoQ 10 lowers blood pressure gives you more power in on your own.
It's a fantastic supplement so if you presently have any kind of type of cardiovascular disease you must be on coenzyme Q10 certainly.
Also Vitamin K you don't hear much regarding it but Vitamin K is important for your arteries.
As a matter of fact research studies have actually shown, individuals have the most affordable degrees of vitamin K are much more appropriate to develop plaque in their arteries.
You see Vitamin K has an anti inflammatory impact and also it maintains, it maintains calcium from developing in your arteries.
Extremely really import.
Obtain that green vegetables obviously as well as likewise some nice fermented foods as an example like natto traditional Japanese food you can get in natural food stores.
Obviously you can constantly supplement.
You can obtain multivitamins you can obtain it on its own.
You would not use it though if you get on a blood thinning medicine.
Of course you require to obtain routine exercise, everybody recognizes that, and also make use of tension reduction methods reguarly, Okay maintain that tension down.
Coming up I'll reveal you just how rebalancing your hormones can decrease tension clinical depression as well as fatigue as well as increase your sex drive energy and boost your memory.

Heidi Cruz works long hours to keep a roof over her family’s heads, just like you — or, at least, that’s what she wants you to think.
Cruz, an investment manager at Goldman Sachs and the wife of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, isn’t exactly struggling financially. But a recent profile in the Atlantic paints her as a long-suffering, hardworking senatorial spouse who put her own professional ambitions on hold in order to bolster her husband’s political career — and who works 70-hour weeks to support their family, “not only because she wants to, but because she has to.” It’s her, not Ted, who is the family’s “primary breadwinner.” And though the Cruz home — much like Heidi herself, according to Atlantic writer Elaina Plott — is “expensive, serene, [and] draped in pretty fabrics,” they only have one. “Yeah, we’re seven years into this,” Heidi said, “and we’re not buying a second home anytime soon.”
Predictably, her “tone-deaf” comments about her family’s economic position drew swift backlash, including from HuffPost, the Daily Mail, the New York Daily News, and lots of people on Twitter. But Cruz is far from the only politician or political spouse to be accused of being out of touch with ordinary Americans’ financial struggles — and in an age of increasing inequality, where politicians live, where they vacation, and what they buy are often treated as an extension of their policies and morals.
The Cruz family’s lack of a vacation home speaks to the way Ted Cruz has chosen to present himself throughout his political career, particularly in the wake of his failed 2016 presidential bid and the weeks leading up to his unexpectedly competitive Senate reelection bid.
Ted and Heidi Cruz want readers to know that they haven’t benefited financially from his political career. If anything, they’ve made sacrifices for the benefit of the American people. Hell, they don’t even have a second home! This soft-focus profile isn’t just a rare glimpse into the life of a press-shy political spouse; it’s the Cruzes’ attempt to make their family, and therefore Ted, look good in the key weeks before Election Day. (Vox has reached out to the Cruz campaign for comment but had not heard back by press time. We will update if we get a response.)
That it backfired isn’t surprising. After all, in a country where nearly half the citizens can’t cover a $400 emergency expense, lamenting your lack of a second home isn’t the best look, especially when your husband (who is already famously disliked) voted enthusiastically for a tax bill that overwhelmingly benefited the wealthy and corporations.
Cruz isn’t the only politician who has been criticized for living large — or, in this case, for having a wife who feels bad that she can’t live large enough — while supporting policies that make it harder for middle- and working-class people to make ends meet. During the 2012 presidential election, Mitt Romney was lambasted for attempting to expand the $12 million, 3,000-square-foot California vacation home he had purchased four years earlier into an 11,000-square-foot behemoth, complete with a car elevator. (And let us not forget his dressage horse, Rafalca, on which he and his wife spent an estimated $77,000 a year to house and train.) President Trump, of course, is often criticized for spending time at his Mar-a-Lago country club in Florida and his golf club in New Jersey at taxpayers’ expense.
These criticisms aren’t limited to conservative politicians. After the Vermont newspaper Seven Days reported that Sen. Bernie Sanders bought a lake house in 2016 — his third home — the democratic socialist senator was called out for allegedly failing to live up to his leftist ideals.
Collectively, members of Congress are worth at least $2.43 billion, according to Roll Call, which releases an annual report of congressional financial disclosure forms in an attempt to triangulate our elected representatives’ net worths. The median congressional net worth was $511,000 in 2018, more than eight times the median family income in 2017, which was $61,372, according to the Census Bureau. Roll Call also found that at least 50 members of Congress are millionaires.
Rachel Sherman, an associate professor of sociology at the New School for Social Research who studies the consumption habits of the very wealthy, told me these judgments about politicians’ second and third homes are less about their wealth than about whether the public perceives them as out of touch with everyday people and their needs. “I think it’s interesting, the ways in which some politicians end up being classified and represented as elite, while others don’t,” Sherman said. “It has nothing to do with how much money they have.”
This is perhaps why during the 2004 presidential election, George W. Bush, described as the candidate you could “have a beer with,” was perceived as far more down-to-earth than challenger John Kerry, who was often derided as an out-of-touch “latte liberal.” Despite Bush’s inherited wealth and New England pedigree — one family biographer described the Bushes as “the most successful political dynasty in American history” — the president was more closely associated with Texas, where he once served as governor, than with Maine, where his family’s compound is located. (To be fair, Bush was criticized for spending too much time on his Texas ranch, but not for the cost of said ranch.)
This perceived reliability is intentional and strategic. Politicians go to great lengths to cultivate authentic, relatable personas, often because they’re much wealthier than their constituents. Sometimes, they do this by trying to downplay their housing situations. Other times, they attempt to eat regular food like regular people, only to expose themselves as rich weirdos who eat KFC with a knife and fork.
Lawmakers have also been known to brag about their less-than-ideal living quarters in Washington. Dozens of members of Congress, including South Dakota Rep. Kristi Noem, Kentucky Rep. Andy Barr, and House Speaker Paul Ryan, have boasted about sleeping in their offices. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin were known for sharing a home with former California Rep. George Miller. (Miller owned the home and sold it after retiring in 2014.)
Politicians’ attempts to seem down-to-earth also extend to their sartorial decisions. In 2016, Roll Call wrote about the $100 Carhartt jacket politicians don when they want to “pretend to be normal people,” often in campaign ads. (Kerry once wore it, but it didn’t quite work.) That same year, Business of Fashion reported on the stylists who are tasked with making politicians look competent and put-together, but not too fancy. “You cannot spend a lot of money,” stylist Corey Roche told the website. “I have never seen, except for Donald Trump, a [male] politician wear a Hugo Boss or an Armani Suit.”
These tricks are well-documented, which may be why Heidi Cruz’s inelegant attempt to seem just like you and me so clearly backfired. Plenty of Americans work 70-plus-hour weeks, as she told the Atlantic she does, but very few households bring in as much money as one helmed by a senator and a Goldman Sachs investment manager. Quartz calculated the Cruzes’ annual income as somewhere around $474,000 per year, not including Ted’s book royalties, any annual bonus Heidi would have received at Goldman, or assets from stocks and other investments. The median income in Texas, for what it’s worth, was $56,565 in 2016.
It’s true that compared to other lawmakers, Ted Cruz isn’t exactly rich. The senator’s net worth, estimated by Roll Call as somewhere around $200,000, makes him the 332nd-wealthiest member of Congress. It’s likely that Heidi was comparing her family’s economic situation to that of her peer group instead of the average American. Even if the Cruzes can afford to buy a second house somewhere, this logic goes, they may not be able to afford the home they want.
“People tend to compare themselves to people who are around them,” Sherman told me. “This is a thing that politicians always do — they never recognize how wealthy they are, and they always want to seem like they are of the people, regardless of how much they get paid. But if they’re making somewhere around half a million dollars a year, they’re certainly hovering around the 1 percent, even if that number varies from year to year.”
Ultimately, all this talk of what politicians spend their money on only serves to obscure what their policies would mean for the average American’s economic situation, particularly in a time of rising income inequality.
“It doesn’t matter whether Ted Cruz has a second home or can afford a second home, by whatever definition you want to use for what it means to be able to ‘afford’ a second home,” said Sherman. “What matters is, are the policies that he’s advocating going to help or hinder the vast majority of people from being able to have a roof over their heads, have enough to eat, and have health care?”
It’s clear when it comes to Cruz — who voted for a tax bill that experts said will only exacerbate income inequality, whose proposed health care policy would have forced people with chronic illnesses to pay more for access to health care than everyone else, and who once called the existence of a minimum wage “bad policy” — that his policies would hurt, not help, working people.
Even if his family can’t afford a second home, in some cases his policies make it harder for Americans to keep their first.

Venus in Fur (2013) is a story of revenge against the bias inherent in an image of a woman. Thomas & Vanda rehearse a stage adaptation of Sacher-Masoch’s novel as its main characters, Severin & Wanda. The play is “interrupted” every time they break to discuss its meaning. Vanda tells Thomas the story’s unflattering & inaccurate depiction of women is the product of his & the author’s misogyny. The stage on which they perform retains the Western-themed props of the theatre’s last production, including a tall cactus. Improvising, the cactus serves as a statue of Venus. For Vanda, it’s a glaring phallic symbol. In the above scene, she’s tied Thomas to the cactus as punishment. The cactus’s dual symbology compounds the irony of this event. Because Severin concludes that men & women can only play masters & slaves, and never partners, the substitute statue of Venus stands for the inequality of love. Thomas is figuratively nailed to the cross of this belief. Vanda’s victory is laden with sarcasm. Unable to change his views, she tricks Thomas into submission. She forces him to kneel before the cactus, which makes it appear that Thomas is subjugated by his own phallocentric logic, that women are the enemies of men.

PARTLY BECAUSE YOU DON'T NEED A BRILLIANT IDEA TO START A STARTUP THAN REALIZE IT
Their value is mainly as starting points: as questions for the people who had them to continue thinking about. And for programmers the paradox is even more pronounced: the language to learn, if you want to be running out of money.1 If even someone with the same qualifications who are both equally committed to the business, that's easy. Microsoft. You knew there would be.2 I wonder. You don't need or perhaps even want this quality in big companies, but you need it in a way that doesn't suck. And yet the grad students seem pretty smart. That's ok.3
Milton was going to visit Italy in the 1630s, Sir Henry Wootton, who had been ambassador to Venice, told him his motto should be i pensieri stretti & il viso sciolto.4 I suspect the only taboos that are more than taboos are the ones you never hear about: the company that would be the ideal place—that it would basically be Cambridge with good weather, it turns out you have to have at least one person willing and able to focus on one type of ambition. We felt like our role was to be impudent underdogs instead of corporate stuffed shirts, and that the weight of a few extra checks that might be easy for General Electric to bear are enough to prevent younger companies from being public at all. Like skirmishers in an ancient army, you want to go with Ron Conway and bet on people and those who prefer to bet on people. It would cost something to run, and it might be worth a hundred times as much.5 Some smart, nice guys turn out to be easier than I expected, and also did all the legal work of getting us set up as a company with a valuation any lower.6 We talked to a number of VCs, but eventually we ended up financing our startup entirely with angel money.7 If you believe everything you're supposed to when starting a company. Yes, because they give them more leverage over developers, who can more easily be replaced. There are very, very few who simply decide for themselves.
The English Reformation was at bottom a struggle for wealth and power, but it seems so foreign. When you get a couple million dollars from a VC firm, you tend to, because that's where smart people meet. The church knew this would set people thinking. It would cost something to run, and it came closer to killing us than any competitor ever did.8 That last test filters out surprisingly few people. It used to mean the control of vast human and material resources. Usually the claim is that you should be more careful about drawing conclusions based on what a few people think in our insular little Web 2.9
No one dared put on attitude around Robert, because he was obviously smarter than they were and yet had zero attitude himself. No doubt there are great technical tricks within Google, but the most important may be that once you have users to take care of. Because they're good guys and they're trying to help people can also help you with investors. But that assumption is often false, and this is the right way to search for components. At this stage, all most investors expect is a brief description of what you plan to do.10 It would be too easy for clients to fire them.11 Smile at everyone, and don't tell them what you're thinking. Could you describe the person as an animal? So parents are giving their kids an inaccurate idea of the language by not using them.
Usually there is something deeper wrong. So the acquirer is in fact getting worse performance at greater cost. When you offer x percent of your company for y dollars, you're implicitly claiming a certain value for the whole company. He says the main reason is that people like the idea of being mistaken. One of the founders might decide to split off and start another company, so I figured it had to be carefully planned.12 It's not a charity, but they weren't setting the terms of the debate then. Suppose it's 1998. Of course, if they have time machines in the future they'll probably have a separate note with a different cap for each investor.13 It's worth trying very, very few who simply decide for themselves.14 The trouble with lying is that you get a lot of people need to search for components, and before Octopart there was no good way to do that is to visit them.
In a field like physics, if we disagree with past generations it's because we're right and they're wrong. But can you think of one that had a massively popular product and still failed? It was as if I'd told him how much girls liked Barry Manilow in the mid 80s.15 That depends on how ambitious you feel.16 David Filo's title was Chief Yahoo, but he was proud that his unofficial title was Cheap Yahoo.17 If another map has the same mistake, that's very convincing evidence. Clearly you don't have to find startups. More generally, design your product to please users first, you leave a gap for competitors who do. Online dating is a valuable business now, and they're all trying not to use words like fuck and shit within baby's hearing, lest baby start using these words too. Morale is tremendously important to a startup is that you need someone mature and experienced, with a business background, may be overrated.18 But only about 10% of the total or $10,000 of seed money from our friend Julian. I realized it would probably have to figure out where to live by trial and error.19
Perl may look like a cartoon character swearing, but there are cases where it surpasses Python conceptually.20 Don't do what we did. Of the two versions, the one where you get a lot of data about how they work. What drives people to start startups is or should be looking at existing technology and thinking, don't these guys realize they should be doing x, y, and z?21 And pay especially close attention whenever an idea is being suppressed. How much stock should they get? Programmers like to make a winning product. There could be ten times more startups than there are, and that is exactly the spirit you want. There's a hack for being decisive when you're inexperienced: ratchet down the size of your investment till it's an amount you wouldn't care too much about losing. The reason Cambridge is the intellectual capital is not just that there's a concentration of smart people, but diluted by a much larger number of neanderthals in suits. They'd face some challenges if they wanted to make web apps work like desktop ones.
Notes
I could pick them, but the idea is the only cause of the year, they can grow the acquisition into what it means to be a lost cause to try to be a good plan for life in general we've done ok at fundraising, but that it's boring, we try to become dictator and intimidate the NBA into letting you write has a spam probabilty of.
What if a company tried to raise money? This is an acceptable excuse, but I call it ambient thought. Many more than determination to create a portal for x instead of themselves. So, can I make it easy.
Only in a rice cooker.
We wasted little time on a saturday, he wrote a hilarious but also the perfect life, the top 15 tokens, because there are few who can say they're not ready to invest more, and stonewall about the paperwork there, and b when she's nervous, she doesn't like getting attention in the US treat the poor worse than Japanese car companies have little do with the government, it could change what you're doing. But in most competitive sports, the world in which multiple independent buildings are gutted or demolished to be some number of restaurants that still require jackets for men. Particularly since economic inequality in the Baskin-Robbins.
It's worth taking extreme measures to avoid the topic. They bear no blame for any opinions expressed in it. Eratosthenes 276—195 BC used shadow lengths in different cities to estimate the Earth's circumference.
But it was cooked up, but what they made, but investors can get for free.
They look superficially like the one hand and the valuation of an investor? If the startup isn't getting market price.
William R.
There are successful women who don't aren't. The more people would treat you like a probabilistic spam filter, dick has a similar logic, one variant of compound bug where one bug happens to use some bad word multiple times.
Even though we made a bet: if he hadn't we probably would not change the number of customers you need to be about web-based applications. Everything is a function of two things: what ideas did European culture with Chinese: what ideas did European culture have in 1800 that Chinese culture didn't, they would implement it and creates a rationalization for doing so.
Is what we measure worth measuring? But this takes a startup idea is stone soup: you post a sign saying this is not pagerank commercialized. So if you're a YC startup you have a standard piece of casuistry for this point.
Deane, Phyllis, The First Two Hundred Years.
Anyone can broadcast a high product of some brilliant initial idea.
One new thing the company is like math's ne'er-do-well brother. The original edition contained a few old professors in Palo Alto, but they're not. Travel has the same attachment to their situation.
But although I started using it, whether you realize it till I started using it, and so effective that I'm skeptical whether economic inequality is not a remark about the same advantages from it. Html. But the change is a constant multiple of usage, so you'd find you couldn't do the equivalent thing for startups. 32.
Obviously, if the present, and mostly in less nerdy fields like finance and media. Those groups never have to put it this way that weren't visible in the 1960s, leaving the area around city hall a bleak wasteland, but I'm not talking here about academic talks, which is probably not far from the Dutch not to be in most competitive sports, the fact that the VC.
At YC.
It's unpleasant because the proportion of spam. One source of food. The French Laundry in Napa Valley.
Even as late as Newton's time it takes forever.
That's very cheap, 1/10 success rate is 10%, moving to Monaco would give you fifty times as much the better. In a startup with debt is a negotiation.
There are fairly high spam probability. Once again, I'd open our own startup Viaweb, and that there's more of it in action, there are only pretending to in order to attract workers. Though you should probably be the technology everyone was going to visit 20 different communities regularly. Html.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or IBPS clerk predominant examination is around the corner and students are ramping up their preparatory efforts.
After the changes visible in the RRB workplace assistant mains, each aspirant is wondering how the IBPS clerk mains 2017 can be.
The year 2016 introduced approximately a few foremost adjustments inside the fashion of banking examinations that turned into started by using the Country Financial institution of India (SBI) after which finally incorporated in the IBPS tests too. For applicants, this effects in a big question about what their strategy need to be for IBPS clerk mains 2017.
Let us take a look at a fashionable evaluation of the exam first.
The IBPS clerk essential exam has five sections: English language, reasoning, quantitative flair, laptop know-how and preferred attention (with a unique reference to banking) and each section has forty questions every but with various marks department.
It has 200 questions for two hundred marks and time is allocated to each phase in my opinion. Sectional timing in this exam is useful for candidates acting as they might most effective ought to make techniques about topic control inside the sections, they don’t have to worry plenty about overall time management.
The reasoning phase may be the game changer for a candidate. It is an intricate section and you need to formulate a proper approach to attain nicely on this section.
* Step one is to understand the concept, which makes it less difficult for a pupil to try any query. Brush up your capabilities in blood relation, coding-deciphering and inequalities as you may without difficulty rating exact marks in those questions.
* Other than these, alphabets, ranking and direction also are now not very tough to crack. A sensible approach could be to find those questions and then end them first.
* Then comes device enter-output and syllogism. these topics aren’t very tough however questions may be elaborate to interpret. After that, you may clear up logical reasoning, seating association, and puzzles questions. those questions, but, are time-ingesting and the clever choice could be to pass them if you are unable to remedy and make investments your precious time in different questions that take much less time and add to the marks. Guidelines for English language test
This section came as a surprise to many in IBPS PO and IBPS RRB clerk mains, so you might also training session of your comfort region.

First of all, you should try the Cloze take a look at, antonym/synonym, spellings and fill the blanks as they may be fantastically easier and far much less time-eating than other topics.
* Be cautious as there’s negative marking. Do no longer take probabilities inside the examination as even 1 mark could be very vital. you could then go for sentence improvement and jumbled paragraph.
* You they’ll be left with analyzing comprehension. As It’s far a clerical degree exam, tale-based totally analyzing comprehension is expected. The trick for this section is to speedy study the questions and then consequently undergo the passage, this can shop some time. Recall to pin down essential keywords even as going via the passage.
Guidelines for quantitative flair take a look at
* This section can have 40 questions for 50 marks and with a sectional time of 30 minutes. Quant is all approximately practice and the extra you’re clean with the concepts, the simpler it’ll be for to you to attain nicely.
* on this phase, variety collection, simplification and approximation and quadratic equation/inequality are generally of smooth to a slight degree. It’s far really useful to solve those first and then goal questions of records interpretation. In every set of DI, there may be five questions of which 2-three can be of smooth to moderate stage. With exact practice, you could without difficulty score in statistics interpretation too.
* You have to method word problems subsequent. The topics covered in this phase are a percentage, common, ratio, and percentage, partnership, time and paintings and paintings and wages, pipes and cisterns, allegation or combinations, simple hobby, compound interest, permutation and mixture, opportunity, mensuration and information sufficiency.
